Greetings friends, here's a excerpt from a Christian romance I am working on.

Take a look. Tell me what you think.

Better still, please read through the book of Ruth in the Holy Bible. Also, have a look at Invite Him by Mark Ballenger- useful read.

Angela sat at her desk, the soft hum of her laptop filling the quiet air of her small study. The faint aroma of her lavender-scented candle mingled with the warmth of her coffee, sitting untouched beside her. It was one of those peaceful mornings—the kind she cherished—where inspiration struck and her mind buzzed with ideas. She had been working on her blog, drafting pieces that mattered to her, that spoke to her core, and today she was focused on something personal yet universal: relationships.

The title Ruth’s Steps to Boaz hovered at the top of the blank page, waiting for her to breathe life into it. Angela smiled faintly as her fingers hovered over the keyboard. She’d always admired the biblical story of Ruth—a story of loyalty, patience, and knowing your worth. The concept had been sitting in her mind for weeks, waiting for her to pull it together into something cohesive. Today felt like the right day.

Her fingers tapped rhythmically against the keys as she began typing, stopping every so often to reread, adjust, and refine her words. The framework was simple; a step-by-step guide for women navigating relationships, inspired by Ruth’s journey to finding Boaz. Angela wanted it to be practical, encouraging, and rooted in wisdom.

Ruth’s Steps to Boaz

Step 1: Encounter

Start with the first meeting—those early interactions where two people test the waters. Pay attention to how he speaks, how he treats others, and how he responds to you. In these moments, you begin to see glimpses of his character.

Step 2: Observe

Take your time to watch—not obsessively, but intentionally. Observe his actions over time. Is he consistent? Is he kind? Does he show integrity? These are the clues that tell you who he really is.

Step 3: Understand

Move deeper into understanding his character and intentions. Ask questions, share thoughts, and be open to meaningful conversations. This is where trust begins to grow.

Step 4: Communicate

When the time feels right, make your intentions clear. Communicate what you want and need from the relationship—but only when you’re confident in who he is. By this point, you’ll know enough to decide if he’s someone worth pursuing.

Angela stopped typing, reading over the steps with a critical eye. She wanted this to be empowering, not prescriptive. It wasn’t about forcing a connection; it was about recognizing the natural evolution of relationships and ensuring mutual respect and understanding.

She clicked on her image folder, scrolling through her saved photos for something that fit the theme. A picture of a golden field caught her eye—wild grass swaying under the warm glow of the sunset. It reminded her of the story’s setting and felt perfect for the page. She added it to the draft, letting it sit neatly between the title and the steps.

Angela smiled to herself, sipping her coffee as she made a few final adjustments to the formatting. The piece was coming together beautifully, and she liked the message it conveyed: patience, discernment, and knowing your worth.

As Angela leaned back in her chair, her mind wandered briefly to Kris. She still didn’t know everything about him—they were in the midst of their letter-writing phase, and while she had a picture of him now, she hadn’t heard his voice or seen him in real time. Their connection was steady, growing in quiet ways she hadn’t expected, but there was still so much she didn’t know.

"Would he pass the steps?" Angela thought teasingly, smiling to herself. She didn’t know his full intentions yet, but she could feel the consistency in his letters, the thoughtfulness in his words. Kris hadn’t rushed her, hadn’t demanded anything from her—he had simply shown himself bit by bit, letting her see him for who he was.

And she liked that about him. She liked the way he made her laugh, the way his letters felt light yet meaningful, the way he seemed to care even from thousands of miles away.

Angela shook her head, laughing softly to herself. "Focus, Angela," she muttered, glancing back at her laptop screen. "This isn’t about Kris. This is about the blog."

But even as she posted the piece, clicking the “publish” button and watching the page go live, her thoughts drifted back to him.

"Ruth’s Steps to Boaz,"Angela thought faintly, her lips curving into a smile. "Well, Kris, we’ll see how you measure up."
